In 2010 I had an opportunity to submit a ballad for a country artist who was to sing a duet with Dolly Parton. I reached out to my friend Eric Palacio (a former student) and filled him in on the situation. On the phone over the next couple of nights Eric and I worked out this tune. Although this was written for Dolly to sing, I had my wife Jessica in mind and steered the lyrics towards us. The duet never happened and the song was shelved for 10 years.
Over a year ago I revisited the song and decided to re-do/finish the song. My intentions when this was done was not to ever release it. It was not an easy decision to release this publicly because it is a ballad and as ballads can be.... quite intimate.
I did re sing but ultimately liked the vibe of the original vocals, flaws and all so kept the demo vocals. I then re-did all of the music. I added an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, keys, bass, drums and mixed it.
I played it to a few friends in the industry and they all said I should release it. It has been done for over a year and I finally decided I would release it.
The song does ring true universally for anyone in any kind of a relationship that would do it "All Over Again".
